Adult Diversion

Put the Dum Dum Girls together with Best Coast, maybe add in a bit of Hooded Fang and Beach House, and you’ve got Alvvays. The band is reminiscent of some of the best aspects of each of these aforementioned bands and has melded them together to create an impeccably well-rounded lo-fi indie pop sound. The album features quite a bit of variety within the genre and ranges from tracks like “Adult Diversion” that are particularly lo-fi, to tracks like “Dives” that could almost be considered dream pop. One thing is for sure, Alec O’Hanley’s simple rhythmic guitar riffs in conjunction with Molly Rankin’s laid-back voice never fails throughout the course of the album.
