As a woman whose own aspirations include rocking out in the field of chemistry, I have great admiration for this Canadian (bonus!) woman who can rock the shit out of a stage. Honing charisma and edge to the likes of Kathleen Edwards and Emily Haines, Danielle Duval led her three-piece band with skill and camaraderie Thursday night at The Mansion.
Duval destroyed the piano with precision and delicacy performing “We Got it Made,” fusing together passion and focus: two traits that do not often encourage the presence of the other. “Ambulance,” introduced as a song about the emergencies of the mind, is a tune that was easy to consume. It was also great to hear Duval sending a shout out towards mental health awareness. And, before I wrap up here, a huge portion of glory goes to Duval’s band. Only three of the four members in tow last night, their explosive talent and commitment to an energetic performance was clear, and this energy was reciprocated by the modest crowd. We expect to be seeing much larger turnouts in their future.
I’ve included a couple songs for you, but don’t let that satiate your interest in Danielle Duval; take the next chance you get to go see this incredible woman put on a great live show.
