Lucius

Genevieve

If you were like I was and cancelled all plans last weekend to watch the Coachella live stream but since haven’t known what to listen to, hopefully you’ll find some solace in this newly released b-side from Lucius. The Brooklyn-based 5-piece released their glowing debut LP Wildewoman late 2013 and it’s finally feeling like time to pull the album out and listen while basking in some badly needed vitamin D. While “Genevieve” didn’t make the original cut for the album, the group just posted this version with the announcement that they’re working on a few tweaks and will officially release the track as a single in the month or two. Until then, this version of the song is working well for me. The pounding percussion drives most of the song and keeps you dancing, while the voices of Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig and accompanying guitar riffs from Peter Lalish bring you back to the era that started modern music fests.

Speaking of which, look out for these folks if you’re heading to Sasquatch, Gov Ball, Bluesfest, or Lollapalooza this summer (ahhhh summer- so close I can taste it!)
