Ghosts

The Hunter

Musical genius Dave Newfeld strikes again. ON AN ON were able to snag the former Broken Social Scene producer to craft an album that’s bound to be nothing short of exceptional. Sadly, with a release date set for January 29th, 2013, we still have a while until we’ll be able to hold the band’s debut LP, Give In, in our hands. For now we’re teased with two painfully addicting singles, and are left wanting more.

The Chicago trio released the LP’s first track (and the band’s first song ever, for that matter), “Ghosts”, mid-September. “Ghosts” is more like a dream than a song; it starts with whimsical swells that build until you’re lead into the powerful chorus and subsequent instrumental bridge that finally leave you feeling weirdly relaxed, strangely unsettled, and with no idea how you got to this point.

“The Hunter” dropped Tuesday and was everything I wanted it to be and more. I’ll leave you with the band’s description of what the album will be like, and if this doesn’t have you counting down the days until January 29th I don’t know what will. “Expect a dream-washed textural journey armed with a biting perspective on life, love, and the commonality of loss.”
