Reckless by Will Hunter Band
The River by The Darcys
Paper Girl by July Talk
What an amazing couple of nights we’ve had here on Queen’s campus. This was one heck of an inaugural music festival if you ask me. The Underground was soaking in sweet vibes last night from beginning to end with three absolutely unreal performances. Will Hunter Band- always a pleasure. As soon as they took the stage at the beginning of the night, they were singing their way into everyone’s hearts. Their set was a whole lot of flawless, punctuated with charming stage presence, and had the crowd foot tapping, hip swaying, head bobbing, drinks in hand, and convinced for a great night.
Next to take the stage as the Underground started to fill was Toronto-based band, The Darcys. With a more chilled out vibe and reverb sound that picked up pace towards the end of their show, they were a perfect warm up for the explosion of July Talk that was to follow. The progression of their songs got the intimate crowd from standing to swaying to jumping over the course of their set- with everyone pumped and buzzing by the end.
The second July Talk took the stage every single person in the room knew they were in for a treat. Leah Fay takes the stage with such gumption and sex appeal like you’ve never known and her fabulously unique vocals punctuated by Peter Dreimanis’ energy and vocals to match, makes for a show I would see again in a heartbeat.
