When I Met You

Elissa is a Canadian singer/songwriter who has been preforming since the age of 13.  Which makes sense; you don’t get a voice like that without a bit of practice.  Her voice is special because not only is it nice to listen to but it also conveys so much feeling and experience.  It gives her songs a sense of reality. Though I am ridiculously impressed by her raw tone and soulful voice, and I am sucker for any song with a piano, I think it’s her lyrics that make her stand out as an artist.  She really is a poet and in a world where artists are singing about how old they feel (I didn’t realize that 22 was another milestone age) or rhyming crazy with maybe, it’s refreshing to see that some singer/songwriters still value strong writing.
