You Read My Mind

Big news! Ladyhawk are at it again with a new album. The band (not to be confused with Ladyhawke, the singer from New Zealand) is a four-piece rock outfit from Vancouver, associated with Black Mountain and a few west coast acts. Their last album, 2008’s Shots, was definitively garage rock (or more aptly barn rock, since the whole session was done in an old barn in Kelowna). After almost no word from the band in 2 years, they have announced they are putting out a new album titled No Can Do. The lead-off single “You Read My Mind” really cuts to the chase; it’s a short, fast, direct rock song, definitely sounding more produced than their last album. Ladyhawk run a balance between longer, more lead-guitar oriented jams (see the 10-minute “Ghost Blues”), and condensed, more poppy singles, and “You Read My Mind” falls into the latter category.

Ladyhawk are touring with mostly western Canada with Baby Eagle and the Proud Mothers, starting Oct 16th in Victoria B.C.
